Full Professor at Chemical Engineering School- Department of Chemical Process and Coordinator of the Laboratory of Optimization, Design and Advanced Process Control (LOPCA) since 1989, and recently, 2007, Head of the Laboratory of Innovation in Biofuels- UNICAMP (LIB).
The main research areas covers Modeling of Chemical and Biochemical Process: Computer Aided Design, operation and control and off/on line optimization, with special focus in Green Process Development, specifically with bio-ethanol and byproducts from fermentation as feedstock. He served as Head of Chem. Process Development, Director for Under Graduate Studies, Dean of Chemical Engineering School and Pro-Rector at State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He is also a member of the Higher Scientific Research Council of Brazil Research Council (CA of CNPq.).
His professional experience includes teaching and research positions at State University of Campinas since 1983, invited Professor from UIS (Universdad Industrial de Santander- Colombia) and several worldwide collaboration in the chemical engineering area. Is permanent member of Brazilian Chemical Engineering Association and He was Head of Brazilian Chemical Engineering Association and Inter-American Association of Chemical Engineering.
He has supervised over 120 PhD Theses and Master Science Dissertation, published over 160 papers in scientific journals and over 1000 in conference proceedings and is the author of over 50 technical reports and author of 13 patents. He has been the responsible and coordinator for over 50 researches projects involving sponsor agencies and companies. He has been awarded with the distinction research from Unicamp 4 times and is top research qualified in Chemical Engineering (6 in all country) from the National Research Council.
He has large experience in industrial process evaluation and analysis as a consultant acting and chemical and biochemical area, mainly in the field of biofuels an bio-based products. Several consulting activities were carried out in the last 28 years of professional life.
